Introduced in 1955, Kermit the Frog is perhaps Jim Henson’s greatest creation. He served as a mascot for The Jim Henson Company and, of course, starred in “The Muppet Show” as well as “Sesame Street.” In the late 1970s, his “Rainbow Connection” performance even reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 — quite an achievement for an animal puppet.
