Zendaya and Tom Holland Just Adopted a New Dog From an Oakland Shelter
Zendaya and Tom Holland usually make headlines for their movies, public appearances, or the latest speculation about their relationship. This time, though, the news is much simpler. During a recent visit to Oakland, Zendaya shared that she and Holland have welcomed another dog into their family.
“Logistically, it wasn’t probably the smartest idea,” Zendaya told Elle in an interview published May 21. “But emotionally, it was.” That last-minute decision happened after she saw the dog’s face at an Oakland shelter and realized she couldn’t leave without him.
The new addition is a pocket bully, and he officially joins the couple’s growing lineup of pets, which already includes Noon, a miniature schnauzer, and Daphne, a Doberman pinscher.
Leaving Oakland With a Dog
Zendaya’s grounded side makes the shelter adoption feel less like a celebrity PR moment and more like something that genuinely happened as she reconnects with home.
Even with one of the busiest schedules in Hollywood this year, she still heads back to Oakland to spend time with family whenever she gets the chance. During her interview, she described going into full “auntie mode” around her nieces and nephews, attending school events, and working on home projects with relatives.
This Adoption Is a Big Moment for the Couple

This adoption stands out because Zendaya and Tom Holland rarely share much about their personal lives. The couple first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016 and confirmed their relationship in 2021 after paparazzi photos showed them kissing in a car.
That privacy has only fueled curiosity about their relationship over the years. Fans have followed every public appearance, vacation photo, and piece of jewelry for clues about what might be happening behind the scenes.
Earlier this year, engagement and wedding speculation picked up after Zendaya attended the Golden Globes wearing a diamond ring. Then, in March, her longtime stylist Law Roach claimed the couple had already tied the knot. Even with all the attention, Zendaya and Holland have continued to keep most details of their relationship to themselves. Tom explained that mindset in an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, saying their relationship is something they want to protect and keep sacred.
Their New Rescue Joins Two Other Family Dogs
The adoption also fits with how attached both stars already are to their pets. Zendaya previously admitted she goes full Hollywood dog mom with Noon, including fancy meals and vitamin supplements. She joked earlier this year that the way her dog lives is probably the “most ridiculous Hollywood thing” about her.
Tom has been equally open about his love for dogs over the years, especially his Staffordshire bull terrier Tessa. He often brought her to work and once described her as “the sweetest, most angelic thing you’ll ever meet.”
Tessa died in 2024 after about a decade with the Holland family, and both Tom and his father shared emotional tributes afterward. Now, amid packed filming schedules and constant public attention, Zendaya and Tom still found time to walk into an Oakland shelter and leave with another dog. How cute is that?
